Best practices for posting bug reports and feedback to our community

Purpose

This channel is dedicated to both Bug Reports and Feature Feedback. Both are welcome and encouraged!

✅ Good Bug Report

Title Format:

[BUG] Brief description of the issue

Required Info:

  • ✓Issue: Clear description of what's wrong
  • ✓Steps to Reproduce: Numbered steps to recreate the issue
  • ✓Expected Behavior: What should happen
  • ✓Actual Behavior: What actually happens
  • ✓Browser/Device: Chrome on Windows, Safari on iPhone, etc.

Example:

[BUG] Leaderboard doesn't update when achievement is unlocked

Issue: After unlocking an achievement, my rank doesn't change.

Steps:
1. Trigger easter egg (press B, type "boom")
2. Go to /leaderboard
3. Notice rank hasn't updated

Expected: Leaderboard updates immediately

Actual: Old stats show until page refresh

Browser: Chrome on Windows 10

✅ Good Feedback

Title Format:

[FEEDBACK] Brief description of suggestion

Required Info:

  • ✓Suggestion: What feature or improvement would help?
  • ✓Why: Why is this important or useful?
  • ✓How: How do you envision this working?

Example:

[FEEDBACK] Add dark mode toggle to profile pages

Suggestion: Allow users to toggle dark mode on profile pages.

Why: Profile pages feel bright, and some prefer dark mode for longer sessions.

How: Add toggle button in top-right corner, save preference to localStorage.

❌ Don't Post

✗Vague complaints without details ("X is broken")
✗Multiple issues in one post (split them up)
✗Offensive or disrespectful language
✗Off-topic discussions (use #general)
✗Duplicate reports without new information
✗Excessive formatting or spam

📋 Pre-Post Checklist

Has a clear title with [BUG] or [FEEDBACK] prefix
One issue per post
Includes detailed information and steps
Provides browser/device context
Uses respectful and constructive tone
Checked for duplicates
Includes screenshots/videos if helpful
Uses proper formatting for readability

Critical

Site down or features broken

Acknowledged within 4 hours

Standard

Visual glitches or minor issues

Acknowledged within 24 hours

Feedback

Suggestions and improvements

Reviewed within 48 hours

🎯 Tips for Higher Priority

Your report is more likely to be prioritized if:

  • ✓It affects multiple features or many users
  • ✓It prevents users from accessing important features
  • ✓It includes clear, numbered reproduction steps
  • ✓It's supported by screenshots or videos
  • ✓You provide browser and device information

🙏 Best Practices

  1. Search first - Check if someone already reported this issue
  2. Test thoroughly - Make sure the issue actually exists before reporting
  3. Be specific - "On the leaderboard page" is better than "somewhere on the site"
  4. Provide context - What were you doing before it happened?
  5. Update if fixed - Let us know when an issue resolves
  6. Stay constructive - Feedback should help us improve

🔒 Security Issues

If you discover a security vulnerability, do NOT post it publicly in Discord. Instead, DM an admin privately so we can address it before disclosing it to the community.
